Problem

As a start up looking to make its own space in the audiologist healthcare field, Birdsong tasked my design team and I to create and present a design system, and dashboard and screen designs for a providers portal to stakeholders.

Solution

Despite tight timelines and limited resources, I aligned stakeholders around a revised design direction by clearly communicating user and business impact. The final solution not only met stakeholder expectations but also improved usability and streamlined key flows, resulting in a more efficient and cohesive user experience.

Our team started by conducting short interviews with the major stakeholders to get an idea of what an audiologist provider’s portal is, and what it needed to accomplish. We came up with a list of questions to create a baseline understanding of the product and what the stakeholders expected the finished product to look like.

After conducting stakeholder interviews, we compiled and analyzed the data into emerging themes, business imperatives, and potential opportunities the portal could provide to audiologists. With this new information we now had an idea of which direction to take our user/competitive research and what to look for.

Utilizing online tools and resources, our team conducted user/competitive research and created what we called the “golden path user journey,” Through our research, our team created a list of guiding design pillars and pain points, along with a map of how each pain points interlinked with each other.

Following the final designs, we presented a concept deck that detailed our end-to-end process, from research insights to design rationale, highlighting how each decision aligned with user and business needs. The stakeholders responded positively, validating both the approach and the final solution.
