My father used to say “Jack of all trades, but a master of none” to convince me to specialize in a niche skillset, but he conveniently left out the rest of the quote: “but oftentimes better than a master of one.” I truly believe that having a varied skillset, an open mind, and a strong work ethic is more valuable than mastering one skill. Studying sociology in college then moving into the field of law, media, and entertainment, and now UI/UX design, I have picked up a variety of skills and experiences that allow me to look at problems through various perspectives and find creative solutions. I apply this mindset to my designs, and I aim to be a designer who crafts creative and meaningful designs that attempt to solve the problem and not merely treat the symptom.
Passions
Visual Story Telling
I love any type of visual story telling whether it be cinema, television, video games, or manga/anime. A good story not only shows us glimpses into different cultures, but is arguably the best form of entertainment.
Cooking
Born and raised in America under a Korean family, I was fortunate enough to grow up eating various cuisines. For me, cooking is an intimate expression of love and is also a insightful window into different cultures.
Comedy (Stand up/Satire)
Comedy, particularly social commentary stand up and satire will always have a place in my heart. People like George Carlin and Dave Chappelle have shown me different ways to look at the world and many of its issues, while making me bust a gut laughing.
Travel
I genuinely believe that travel broadens the mind. My time studying abroad in Berlin showed me how amazing it is to take your time and immerse yourself in a different culture, allowing you to perceive things from a whole new perspective.
